About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a senior‑level analytics professional to support enterprise‑wide understanding of property risk within a complex insurance platform. This role focuses on turning large volumes of exposure and event data into practical insights that inform underwriting, portfolio planning, and capital decisions.
The position sits within a centralized analytics function and partners closely with underwriting leadership, reinsurance stakeholders, and other quantitative teams. It is well suited for someone who enjoys solving open‑ended problems, working independently with sophisticated datasets, and influencing business outcomes through analysis rather than process ownership.
Core Focus Areas
- Analyze portfolio‑level property risk across regions, perils, and structures to support risk‑aware decision making
- Evaluate concentration, accumulation, and tail risk using a combination of vendor models and internal analytics
- Build and maintain analytical tools, datasets, and workflows that support recurring portfolio reviews
- Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and assumptions that materially impact modeled results and work through solutions
- Develop risk metrics and visual summaries that help underwriting leaders understand tradeoffs and constraints
- Contribute to scenario testing, stress analysis, and ad‑hoc studies tied to market conditions or portfolio changes
- Support conversations around risk transfer by providing analytical input on alternative structures and outcomes
What Our Client Is Looking For
- Meaningful experience working with catastrophe risk or property exposure in an insurance or reinsurance setting
- Strong technical capability and comfort writing queries, scripts, or code to work efficiently with large datasets
- Hands‑on experience using industry catastrophe models and interpreting results critically
- Ability to design analyses from scratch rather than relying solely on standardized outputs
- Track record of translating quantitative findings into clear business implications
- Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to challenge assumptions embedded in models or processes
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with cross‑functional partners
Why This Role Is Compelling
This role offers the chance to work at the intersection of analytics and decision making, with real visibility into how risk is assessed and managed at scale. Our client values thoughtful analysis, strong judgment, and people who are motivated by improving how risk information is used across the organization, not just producing reports.
